David Lustberg, LLA, PP

David Lustberg founded Arterial in 2009 to pursue his true passion as a planner and designer. Dave is a Landscape Architect, Planner and Urban Designer with over 15 years of diverse professional experience. This experience ranges from Streetscape and Plaza Design to Bike/Ped Planning and Redevelopment Consulting. David offers his clients a unique perspective on the importance of thoughtfully planned and well designed streets and spaces in creating sustainable Cities, Towns and Neighborhoods.


Prior to founding Arterial, David was Senior Associate with EDAW Inc, an internationally recognized planning and design firm where he led many of the firm’s significant and challenging urban design projects.  Since then, David has continued his work with a focus on the City of Newark and northern New Jersey.  Notable projects include the 2-mile renovation of Newark’s historic commercial boulevard;  Penn Station Circulation Improvements – Newark, NJ; NJ’s first protected bicycle lanes – Mt. Prospect Ave, Newark;  A Flexible Street Design – S. Park Street, Montclair; and most recently a Complete Streets reconstruction – Broad St, Bloomfield. 


David’s passion for people watching, slow food and amateur photography has led him on travels locally and internationally. He has observed and photographed hundreds of cities and towns ranging from the quaint towns of New England and the Midwest to the excitement and insanity of international cities like New Delhi and Bangkok. David is a Licensed Landscape Architect and Professional Planner in New Jersey and is Vice President of the American Society of Landscape Architects – NJ Chapter.
