Downtown Bloomfield has long served as a transportation hub and downtown shopping district for residents, commuters, and people within the region. However, for the past 25 years, the downtown has been in decline. In the fall of 2007, the Mayor and Council set out to create a community driven Vision and Redevelopment Plan that will revitalize this historic urban core and reposition the downtown as the thriving center of Bloomfield. As a designated “Transit Village” a key component driving the success of this plan is the design and planning of the pedestrian environment, streets and public spaces.

 

Arterial provided bicycle and pedestrian planning, streetscape and plaza design and Landscape Architecture services for all streets within the Bloomfield Center Vision Plan area. In addition, Arterial acted as the project manager and coordinator for the project overseeing the engineering team and providing grant writing support. Arterial managed the project from Visioning and Concept Development through 100% Construction Documents.
