The Hanover Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) has been actively engaged in the retention of existing businesses and development of key commercial properties for the Township of Hanover. As part of their proactive efforts, EDAC envisioned that the residential and business communities be woven together through a network of pedestrian and bicycle trails to create a healthier, sustainable and more economically vibrant community.
Arterial was contracted to develop a Pedestrian & Bicycle Connectivity Framework Plan for the entirety of the Township of Hanover as well as the final design for Phase 1. This plan establishes a town-wide network of on-road and off-road bicycle trails that link key attractors including corporate parks, commercial areas, key development sites, schools, the municipal complex and public parks and open spaces. This trail network accommodates pedestrians and bicyclists of all levels and abilities from recreational users to commuters. This plan was adopted by the Township in November 2013 and the first phase will be constructed during the Spring 2016.
