The Monroe Street neighborhood in Hoboken, NJ is a burgeoning residential community. Located in the heart of this neighborhood is Monroe Center, an arts and culture incubator building. A large surface parking lot adjacent to Monroe Center is proposed to be converted to a mid-rise residential development and a large community park.
Arterial, LLC was commissioned to develop the design for this community park. At nearly 2 acres, this is a large park that would serve residents in the surrounding neighborhoods. In addition, this area experiences severe flooding during modest storm events. The park will include several Best Management Practices (BMPs) for Storm Water Management. Key features of the design include rain gardens, bioswales, large flexible performance spaces and a variety of both passive and active spaces.
