The Siena is a mixed-use residential development situated in the heart of Montclair’s vibrant downtown center. Located on the site of the former Hahne’s building, the development houses 40,000 sf of boutique retail space complimenting the eclectic mix already prevalent in the area.

 

Facing the challenge of filling retail space in a down market, the developer and property manager set out to “re-vision” the signage and awnings to create a vibrant and contemporary streetscape. David Lustberg was the project manager responsible for leading the visioning, design and permitting for the storefronts as well as the main residential entry. The challenge was to develop a unique, 

contemporary and cost effective design while respecting the historic quality of the district. The first step was to develop a storefront “Vision Plan” for the entire block. This plan was utilized to gain preliminary sign-off from the Historic Commission and Planning Board. This “Vision Plan” was then used as a marketing tool to attract tenants. As tenants were brought in, individual designs were executed and brought through the approvals process on a case by case basis. Current tenants include Starbucks, NY Sports Club and Woodhouse Spa among others.
