100 Monitor Street is seen as a pinnacle project for the revitalization of the Lafayette neighborhood of Jersey City. Located adjacent to the Liberty State Park Light Rail, this development features 308 residential units, 3000sf of retail and 8000sf of office and a large outdoor amenity space.
Arterial was commissioned as Landscape Architect for the streetscape surrounding the development and the private courtyard amenity space. The pedestrian experience around the building is particularly important for creating a safe and enjoyable connection to the light rail for residents of the neighborhood. Sculptural benches, ornamental trees and specialty paving help create a flexible public space that is used for socializing, gathering and programming. The private courtyard space features a pool with sunning deck, lawn space with intimate seating and a hardscaped plaza with a variety of seating spaces, barbecues and game tables.
