A true transit-oriented development, Taylor and Vose is located in the heart of downtown South Orange just a short walk to the train station. The development includes 200 residential units and 10,000 sf of retail. A unique feature of the site is a pedestrian alley that acts as a mid-block connection for people walking to the train station, the library or other destinations.

Arterial was responsible for the design of the streetscape, public spaces, the pedestrian alley and the rooftop amenity spaces. The alley is designed as a European style “shared street” that accommodates cars, pedestrians and bicyclists traversing the site. The main terrace located on the second floor is envisioned as an organic, park-like setting that residents can use for passive recreation. The main courtyard is designed as a park-like setting with organic paths and plant material framing a large oval lawn. A raised deck is provided for grilling and socializing. The rooftop includes a passive space for sunning and relaxing beside a unique water feature.
